Open Your Heart to Open the Door Capital Campaign
United
Methodist Open Door held its capital campaign kickoff luncheon on Feb. 11, 2009
at Hinkle Elkouri Law Firm. The $5.4 campaign will raise funds for a resource referral

Former Senator Nancy Kassebaum Baker and Gov. Kathleen Sebelius spoke at the event
and helped launch the campaign before about 100 supporters.
Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. (pictured below)presented a check for $300,000
for the project. The agency has already raised close to $4 million of its goal.

Latest Campaign News:
The Kresge Foundation of Troy,
Michigan, recently awarded Open Door a $500,000 Challenge Grant
for the new Resource & Referral Center. On the heels of the announcement a very
generous local corporation pledged $200,000 toward the challenge.
With this gift and others we have approximately $1.3 million remaining to raise
to meet the challenge. All donations and pledges made between now and September
30, 2011 count toward the challenge. In-Kind gifts are eligible as well, but must
meet specific requirements.
On September 25, 2010, Kansas Area Bishop
Scott Jones of the United Methodist Church hosted the Bishop's
Bike Challenege (BBC). The BBC was three bicycle rides in one, an 18, 50, and 100
mile bike ride to raise awareness and funds in support of the campaign. The efforts
of Bishop Jones and his fellow dedicated riders raised $30,000!
We appreciate the support of all our donors and their willingess to help those in
need. If you, your business, church, or foundation is interested in supporting the
